  Hi, I'm Angela. I am the owner and creative brain behind Classy Baby Diaper Cakes. I wanted to take the time and tell you our story and how this venture all began! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule and web surfing to stop by this page to read about us! I feel it is important for you to know exactly who we are and how we got here. ("We", being me & my family of eight, soon to be nine)!

I have always loved making things with my hands. Both my grandmother and mother made most of my clothing as a child and I eventually learned to sew myself. I made my own wedding bouquet as well as my bridesmaids'. My artstic studies in college provided me with additional creative inspiration. Eventually, I began teaching at an elementary school and many years working with women offered me  plenty of opportunities to attend baby showers! I also come from a large extended family with a good deal of females! So, having input from other moms and moms-to-be, growing up with all those girls, who eventually became mommies, and myself, being a mom of four and a grandmother, (or, Nana, as I am called); I have plenty of experience in knowing practically everything a new mom would need (or want) to care for her baby. And one thing I know for sure...new moms (and dads) need LOTS of diapers!

Problem:

Did you know, the average newborn baby goes through 70-80 diapers per week?? That's ALOT of diapers!! Typically, at baby showers, mommy-to-be is sure to receive all those cute little outfits and toys she registered for at her favorite shop, but she really NEEDS those diapers, and, diapers are usualy the last thing someone wants to bring to a baby shower! And, I was usually that someone. My baby gifts were always items expectant parents really needed to have on hand, practical, but, a little boring! And diapers were always at the top of my shopping list for the new baby; and though the mommy-to-be was always greatful, she was never really excited to see diapers!

Solution!

For the next baby shower I attended, instead of just throwing a pack of diapers in a gift bag and topping it off with color coordinating tissue and a card that said something, like, "To Welcome your New Baby", I decided to give the gift of diapers with a little more…class! A diaper cake was a unique and creative alternative to that bag! I had heard about them, did some research and decided to construct one on my own! I never realized how much fun it would be to design! When I carried it to the baby shower, it was well received by all of the guests!! And the mommy-to-be...speechless! Everyone kept asking, "You made that?"  It was a hit! That was all it took! I was hooked! And so, Classy Baby Diaper Cakes was born!
